Uniting America at PASO-Melrose Park

This past Monday I was given the opportunity to do a small presentation to a group of seniors that attend the Senior Meal Program in Melrose Park. The Seniors Meal Program at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish provides free lunch for anyone 55 years or older. They also provide exercise activities, such as Zumba, and opportunities to socialize and play games, like Lotería. We informed the seniors about PASO’s citizenship program, and how we could help them become citizens. They were incredibly grateful for the information that we provided for them. Many of them were long time residents but had never applied to become citizens. Many of them were interested in taking citizenship classes, and so I was able to connect them with Nuevos Horizontes, Triton College Community Center, which provides free citizenship classes. I was able to spend some time with them playing Lotería and getting to know some of them a little bit. They made me promise that I would come back one day and do Zumba with them so you might find me one day in my workout clothes learning how to Zumba.
