As Congressman Mark Kirk gave a speech in the City Club of Chicago Luncheon, hundreds of immigrant rights advocates, youth, and community leaders rallied outside protesting his extreme stances on immigration (Photo Gallery). A giant rat was displayed on a float as people marched with high energy wearing yellow vests, holding up posters and yelling out several chants which included:
“Hey, listen, Mark Kirk, condoms to Mexico just won’t work!” and “What do we want? Solutions! When do we want it? Now!”

Kirk has said that family planning in Mexico will curb illegal immigration; (see fact sheet) He endorses the idea of racial profiling of Muslim and Middle Eastern men; and has voted in favor of anti-immigrant bills proposed in Congress, including the Sensenbrenner bill (HR-4437) that would have made a criminal of anyone who has helped undocumented immigrants in their daily lives including priests, nuns, doctors, teachers, and family members. The Latino, Asian, Arab, and Polish immigrant communities came out to show Kirk that they will not tolerate his stance and our communities need real solutions.
