Name Change or Change of Address

Name Change

If you change your name, you must re-register in order to be eligible to vote.

Change of Address

All applications for change of address, either by card or by letter, must bear the signature of the voter. All changes of address must be received in the office of the Board of Election Commissioners postmarked not later than midnight, 27 days prior to any election.

If a voter has moved more than 27 days before the election, he may not vote unless he has transferred his registration. If federal offices are running, he may vote for federal offices only.

If a voter has moved within 27 days before an election, he may vote in person at his old polling place where he was previously registered and must fill out the proper affidavit before voting.
