People Over Politics

This morning over 500 advocates from a wide range of community service organizations joined members from the Hispanic Caucus including, Representative Cynthia Soto, Senator William Delgado, Senator Iris Martinez and Governor Quinn and Policy Director Billy Ocasio in a rally against the purposed devastating budget cuts to Illinois Human Services Programs.

The crowd was as energized as it was diverse. Attendees including Latinos, Koreans, Arabs, Chinese, Polish, coming from a wide range of areas including; child care, domestic violence, ESL, and Citizenship. The crowd chanted slogans such as, "People over Politics," "Don't cut out the children," or simply "No cuts."

Speakers included ICIRR Executive Directory, Josh Hoyt as well as ICIRR members Maria Pesquiera (Mujeres Latinas en Accion) and Ric Estrada (Erie Neighborhood House).
