The past few weeks, I had been toying around with the idea of creating a community garden. My own vision for the garden was one that would directly involve students from several surrounding schools in the efforts, from planning to planting. It could serve as another opportunity for the Muslim community to work with their non-Muslim neighbors and continue to build relationships.

On Tuesday, I met with three teachers from Universal School in Bridgeview to discuss the project. I was put in contact with these teachers, Ms. Jody, Ms. Mustafa, and Ms. Shabaneh, by the principal of Universal because all three have been looking to start a community garden. We had a really great brainstorming session where we talked about who we would involve, how we would raise funds, and what we would grow. The possibilities seem endless!
