Good Partnerships Take Time

Volunteer opportunities don’t happen overnight! I’ve been working with Daniel Kaplan from Moishe House Chicago over the past couple of months to develop a service event with Uniting America. MH Chicago’s mission is to build a diverse, progressive, and inclusive community in a Jewish context. They are committed to working towards a more just society and regularly organize programs that focus on social justice, Jewish learning, Jewish community, and adventures in the city. From the time Daniel and I started talking about how we could work together I was excited about the MH Community’s commitment to purposeful service.

While it’s great to recruit volunteers for events here and there, I really appreciate that Moishe House is looking to collaborate on a service opportunity that is relevant and meaningful for their community. I’m hoping that MH residents can take part in a food drive with the Muslim community in April. Like Daniel and his friends, Uniting America is looking for creative ways for neighbors to work and share their lives together. I’ll keep you posted on our plans!
