Juan Jose Gonzalez is a naturalized immigrant from Mexico and grew up in Los Angeles, CA. He graduated from Princeton University in 2006 where he majored in Politics, with certificates in Political Economy and African-American Studies. He was awarded the Princeton Class of 1969 Black Alumni Frederick Douglas Service award for work to improve the lives of racial minorities on campus. Now with the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR), Juan is coordinating ICIRR's non-partisan Get-Out-The Vote efforts called the New Americans Democracy Project,a movement to mobilize immigrant voters to the polls here in Illinois. Juan has also organized a team of immigrant youth, called the DREAM Team, to advocate for pro-immigrant policies like the DREAM Act or Driver's Certificates for immigrant drivers here in Illinois.
