Uniting America: Potluck and Movie Night in Aurora

Hail and possible snow accumulation. Not necessarily the best conditions for the first Uniting America cultural event. The two weeks prior to the event I had been talking up this great event, emailing my contacts, putting up fliers, and working it into almost every conversation I had.

I had the opportunity to take part in my first citizenship workshop, and it was a great experience. A citizenship workshop is a free workshop where people can come and fill out the N400, which is the official form needed to apply for citizenship.

I have been in search of new places to recruit volunteers and start partnerships with.  I was having issues finding new places to bring volunteers that specifically deal with education, helping immigrants learn English, and get assistance with their GED.

Yesterday, the Uniting America fellows joined the other 1000 people at Advocacy Day in Springfield. It was my first ever visit to Springfield and what a great day to go!  We started the day bright and early (6:00 am!) and hit the ground running once we arrived.
