Last night, over 600 immigrant leaders from the 5th Congressional District attended a Candidates' Forum that was organized by 12 organizations: Albany Park Neighborhood Council –Arise Chicago –Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights—Jane Addams Senior Caucus –Korean American Community Services –Korean American Resource and Cultural Center –Lakeview Action Coalition –Northwest Neighborhood Federation – Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Community Center –Organization of the NorthEast –Polish American Association –Young Polish Initiative.

This forum was very important for the immigrant community because we want to build a strong, accountable relationship between our representatives and the people in the district. We heard where each candidate stands on issues that are important to the community: immigration, health care and affordable housing.
