Immigrants and refugees help to form the rich political, cultural, and economic fabric of America. Immigrant integration is based on the idea that community leaders should work hand-in-hand with elected leaders to ensure that New Americans successfully become parts of their communities- for the benefit of all.
New Americans Vote 2008 is this years campaign to register immigrant voters and turn them out to vote as a part of ICIRR's integrated civic engagement program called the New Americans Democracy Project (NADP).
The New Americans Initiative is a partnership between the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights and the State of Illinois, which assists eligible immigrants through the process of becoming a U.S. citizen.
The goal of the Immigrant Family Support Program, Outreach and Interpretation Project (O&I) is to ensure that immigrant families and other limited English-speaking persons in Illinois are able to thrive by reducing the barriers that low-income immigrants and their children face when seeking public benefits and services (nutritional, medical, housing, psychological, childcare, employment) as well as the cash support they need for proper health, well-being and economic self-sufficiency.
The Illinois Coalition hosts and facilitates trainings for a wide range of immigrant and refugee organizations, legal professionals, activists, and more, throughout the year. From six-day immigration trainings for legal advocates to trainings on non-profit management and cutting-edge communications, innovative and timely trainings are just another benefit of Coalition membership.
