We officially launched our 2024 Democracy Project on August 7, 2024! Leading up to Election Day (November 5th),

9 community leaders will be organizing in their communities and mobilizing immigrant voters and allies to support pro-immigrant policies. 

They will be working in these key geographies: Lake County; Suburban Cook County; West Chicago and Elgin; Evanston and Skokie; Melrose Park; Bolingbrook and Romeoville; Joliet; Brighton Park, Chicago; and Chicago’s Chinatown.

Important Dates

  • August 7, 2024 - First day to apply to Vote By Mail

  • October 20, 2024 - Last day to Register to Vote Online at 11:59 PM

  • October 21, 2024 - First day of state-wide Early Voting and Same Day Voter Registration*

  • October 31, 2024 - Last day to apply to Vote By Mail at 5:00 PM

  • November 4, 2024 - Early voting ends

  • November 5, 2024 - Election Day (Voting sites are open from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM); Last day to postmark mail-in ballots

*Check your local election authority’s website for more up-to-date information about dates

To register to vote in Illinois, you must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen;

  • Be a resident of Illinois and of your election precinct at least 30 days before the next election;

  • Be at least 18 years old on or before the next election;

  • Not claim the right to vote anywhere else;

  • Not be incarcerated for a criminal conviction;

  • If registering in person, you must show two (2) forms of identification. At least one (1) identification must list your current address.
